OVERVIEW
A COMPREHENSIVE REPAIR ANDRE-CONDITIONING SERVICE
Propellers are one of the most fundamental components on any vessel so regular inspection and maintenance are critical.
At Nakashima we offer a comprehensive Repair service, not only for of those urgent situations with accidents but also for routine and scheduled upkeep. Our repair shop work with all common grades of bronze and stainless-steel alloys.
REBUILD
When defects or cracks are found on the propeller, remedial surface grinding and profiling are the preferred method, however, certain defects according to their size, severity and location will require localised welding.
Extensive works can be carried out to repair corrosion, cavitation damage, cracks and fractures. We have a wide range of donor material that can be welded to blades where sections have completely broken away in collision.
FABRICATE
We follow strict principles, Manual Arc/Stick welding, Metal Inert Gas (MIG) and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) are all techniques used by our team of qualified welders. Repairs are fully tested and inspected on our MRI equipment with final checks and a full inspection certificate unique reference recorded for diameter, pitch, blade thickness and balance.
Propeller repair methods include cold and hot blade bending, broken edge compensation, large area welding, re-surfacing, tweaking and polishing all of which will increase the strength and reliability of the propeller.
For propulsion line / sterngear breakdowns and maintenance we offer a complete refurbishment service including fabrication of rudders and brackets, shaft straightening, replacement bearings and fastenings plus re-machining of couplings.
